Fred & Bette Cotton Park, Mayne Island

Humpback whale numbers are recovering after the 1966 whaling ban off Canada’s Pacific Coast. Pacific white-sided dolphins, killer whales and grey whales are also back, now that these waters are recovering from past industrial activities and pollution. The waters off Cotton Park, where the Strait of Georgia meets Active Pass, are important to these marine mammals.
